A Week of Excitement!
The last week of school before Christmas Break was filled with excitement! We had TONS of fun weaved in throughout our busy week! On Monday afternoon, we were visited by our 4th grade reading buddies! They brought cookies and Christmas stories to read with us!
On Tuesday, we were intrigued to find a portion of our daily schedule which read Secret Special Surprise! Our class was throwing out ideas about what the surprise could be all morning! When it was time to find out the surprise, we took a walk down to the gym where we found tables lined up with cups of hot cocoa and candy canes waiting for each of us. We got all settled in to our spots and then we heard them....Jingle Bells! We had Story with Santa! HOW FUN! All of the students were quite excited to see Jolly Old St. Nick enter the gym with his Ho Ho Ho! He read us a fun Christmas Story while we watched and listened!
Finally on Wednesday, we started our day with a holiday book exchange with Mrs. Powell's class. Mrs. Powell brought her class over and we all lined up across from each other. We had to listen very closely to a cute Christmas story about the Right family. Every time we heard the word right, we had to pass our book to the right, when we heard left, we passed it left and when we heard across we passed it to our partner across from the other class. We learned by the end to listen very closely to directions. When we had heard the entire story, we were able to open our gifts and find the fantastic new books we received from our friends!
On Wednesday morning, we were invited by the Kindergarten classes to join them for pancakes! we loaded our pancakes with syrup, fruit, chocolate chips, whipped cream and sprinkles. They were DELICIOUS!!!!
We concluded our week with writing about what we hoped to do over our extended Christmas break, watched the Polar Express and had our Christmas 'Feast', all before an extra recess with Mr. Brown! I cannot wait to hear all about everyone's exciting Christmas Vacations when we come back to school on Monday! Enjoy the remainder of your holiday and see you all next week!
