First Grade Feast
Hello First Grade Families!!
Thanksgiving presents great opportunities for our first graders to learn about Thanksgiving traditions, both long ago and those that are celebrated today. We learn about the first Thanksgiving and would like to enjoy a real feast, dressed as Pilgrims and Native Americans on November 22nd! Both first grade classrooms will not to regular school lunch this day IF (and only if) we are able to provide the students with a feast. The feast will be in place of school lunch. We gather together at a very long, decorated table and enjoy foods that are a mixture of what they might have eaten long ago with some foods that are a tradition today as well.
This can only be done with extra help from home from some of our families. If you would like to volunteer to purchase and or make on of the following items it would be VERY much appreciated!
If you no longer have your sign up sheet, please just email me with an item you are able to provide by tomorrow, November 14th. I will confirm with you the item you will be sending in after I have heard from you. Everything must be already cooked and prepared ahead of time - ready to serve! We only have access to the microwave here at school (you could always send it it in a crock pot if needed). Please do not purchase or make the items until we have confirmed with you so that we have just the right amounts of all the things we need.
Here are the items we are still in need of:
*(1) container of Turkey (deli style is fine) - we will need a total of 3
*(1) Salmon - yes...we have the kids try it, since fish was likely part of the first Thanksgiving! - we will need a total of 2
*Cranberries - enough to serve 16 students
*(1) pumpkin pie - we will need a total of 3
*(1) can of whipped cream
*(1) loaf/pan of sliced corn break - we will need a total of 2
*Corn - enough to serve 16 students
Thank you!
