Valentine's Day and Exciting Updates

Hi there families! We have got a busy, short week as we celebrated Forest View's 50th birthday today, we will have Valentine's Day on Wednesday and we get to enjoy a long weekend with no school on Friday or next Monday. I just wanted to send out a few reminders about this coming week, as well as some information about upcoming events from our PTO.

First of all, our first graders were extremely excited about a mystery birthday party that had been announced on Friday. This morning, they found out that Forest View Elementary is celebrating its 50th birthday! We celebrated with an assembly in the gym where we sang Happy Birthday, heard from former students of Forest View (including Mrs. Hettich from GSRP and Ms. Nikki). The teachers competed for a present for their grade level and with a tie across all the teachers, every class earned an extra recess this week!!!! We also celebrated with a homemade chocolate chip cookie birthday treat at lunch, made special from Ms. Dot!

On Wednesday, we will be having our We HeART Valentine's Day Party!!! We will be creating Valentine Art as well as passing out our cards to our friends. If your child is planning on bringing in cards for their friends, please note that we now have 25 students. Please send in cards on Wednesday morning.

Our annual Sweetheart Dance will take place on February 23rd. All of our Forest View girls (GSRP-4th grade) are invited to attend the dance with a man of their choice (i.e. dad, step-dad, grandpa, uncle, father-figure). Tickets are $12 per couple and $ for each additional lady. There will be music, dancing, desserts and refreshments as well as photographs. You will even be able to buy glow sticks to dance with for only $0.25! The dance will be from 6:00pm- 8:00pm. If you plan to attend, please make sure to fill out and send back the sign up form with the registration fee! The PTO is looking for volunteers to help during the event/cleanup as well as to make donations of cookies, cupcakes, cheese, crackers and other refreshments. You can sign up to help on the registration form as well! We can't wait for you to enjoy a night of dancing and fun!

Two additional reminders from our PTO is that there is a PTO meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13th at 6:30pm and our next BoxTop Due Date will be February 23rd. Please keep saving and sending in your BoxTops! Each and every one helps!

Be on the lookout for a blog post either later today or tomorrow about an exciting opportunity happening this coming month for our First Graders! We are very excited about our upcoming Market Day. I will tell you more about it in tomorrows post (you will also be getting a letter in your child's folder today that will tell you all about it!
